Our two‑day journey in Salento, Colombia with Páramo Trek was nothing short of magical. From towering wax palms in Cocora Valley to hands‑on coffee farming and countryside treks, every moment was filled with discovery, laughter, and the kind of joy that only comes when traveling with kids.

Day 1: Cocora Valley – Among the Giants 🌴✨

We kicked off our adventure in the legendary Cocora Valley, where Colombia’s national tree, the wax palm, reaches for the sky. After meeting our guide at the Páramo Trek office, we set off into landscapes that felt straight out of a storybook.

Learning about these palms and how they take decades to grow and thrive only here, was fascinating. But for the kids, the valley was pure freedom: endless fields to run across, horses to feed, and rivers to splash in. The weather was perfect, the viewpoints breathtaking, and the snacks provided by Páramo Trek kept little hands busy.

The highlight? Watching the children play by the riverside, before we sat down to a delicious lunch included in the tour package. Mummy declared it one of her favorite meals of the trip!

Day 2: Coffee, Countryside, and Rivers ☕🌄

The next morning brought a whole new adventure: a visit to a traditional coffee farm. The kids dressed up as little coffee farmers, planting seedlings, picking beans, and even deshelling seeds.

We learned about the different types of beans and the intricate process that turns them into the coffee we love. The tasting session was a highlight for mummy, who savored every sip.

After another hearty lunch, we set off on a countryside trek. Horses grazed nearby, cows wandered lazily, and the scenery was peaceful yet invigorating. The weather was just right, neither too hot nor too cold, and the river crossings added a dash of excitement as our guide helped the kids across.

Finally, we reached a river where the children splashed happily. For once, the water wasn’t icy cold, and we all wished we had brought swimwear.
